What an annual service covers

California adopts NFPA 10, and CCR Title 19 requires portable extinguishers to be serviced and tagged by a licensed company. At each visit we:

  • Inspect every unit for pressure, damage, seals, hose and nozzle condition, and mounting height.
  • Replace the service tag with the date and our license information.
  • Check that the type and size of each extinguisher matches the hazard in that room.
  • Note anything missing or blocked, and quote the fix in writing.

Recharging, maintenance and hydrostatic testing

Extinguishers need internal maintenance at set intervals and a hydrostatic test, where the cylinder is pressurised beyond its rating to prove it will still hold, on a schedule set by its type. We track those dates for every unit we service, recharge after any use, and replace cylinders that fail.

New extinguishers and cabinets

We are an authorized Amerex dealer and sell all common types and sizes, including ABC dry chemical, CO2 and Class K units for commercial kitchens, along with cabinets, brackets and signage.

Common questions

How often do fire extinguishers need to be serviced?

A licensed company services and tags them every year. Staff should also glance at each one monthly: gauge in the green, pin and seal in place, nothing blocking it.

What happens to an extinguisher that fails?

We tell you on the spot, and replace or recharge it the same visit when we have the unit on the truck.

Which extinguisher does a commercial kitchen need?

Cooking areas with deep fryers need a Class K extinguisher in addition to the hood suppression system. We will check yours at the next visit.

Call and a technician will come out to service your property.
