Fire Extinguisher Service and Inspection in Indio

Indio keeps our extinguisher technicians busy with a working mix of buildings. In the last twelve months Desert Fire serviced extinguishers at 501 Locations in Indio. Apartment communities, senior living and mobile home parks were the largest group we could name, at least 68, and right behind them were at least 45 repair shops, auto businesses and gas stations, at least 36 restaurants and at least 31 schools and churches. Packing sheds, yards and storage buildings added at least 21 more. Plenty of names do not say what the building is.

What the yearly visit includes

Indio contracts with the Riverside County Fire Department for fire prevention. California adopts NFPA 10, and CCR Title 19 requires a licensed company to service and tag portable extinguishers. For each unit we:

• Look over the gauge, cylinder, pin and seal, hose and nozzle, and bracket.
• Replace the tag with the new service date.
• Check that the extinguisher type and size fit the hazard where it hangs.
• Keep the maintenance and hydrostatic test schedule, and recharge after any discharge.

What we see most in Indio

Auto repair bays, tire shops and fuel stations are hard on extinguishers. Units get knocked off their brackets, coated in grime or parked behind a tool cart, so the most common fixes here are remounting and clearing access. On agricultural and storage properties, dust works into nozzles and the units are often spread across sheds and yards far apart, which is why we map each one. School campuses and church halls see pins pulled and units emptied by curious hands, and we recharge or swap those at the visit when the replacement is on the truck.

Recharging and replacement

A unit that has been used, even briefly, needs recharging before it can be trusted again. When a cylinder fails its test or is past its service life, we quote a replacement in writing along with any cabinet, bracket or sign it needs.

Common questions

We run a repair shop with a fuel island. Do we need different extinguishers in each area?

Possibly. We check that the type and size of each unit match the hazard it covers, and if an area is under-protected we tell you and quote the change in writing.

Our ranch has extinguishers in several outbuildings. Will you find them all?

Yes. Walk the property with us once and we record where each unit lives, so every visit after that covers the full list and flags anything missing.
