Kitchen Hood Suppression Service in Coachella

Semi-annual inspections for Coachella kitchens

Under NFPA 96 and the manufacturer’s requirements, a commercial cooking suppression system is inspected every six months. The Riverside County Fire Department handles fire prevention in Coachella under contract with the city. Our visit includes:

• Agent cylinder, cartridge and pressure.
• Every nozzle and cap, and the piping above each appliance.
• The detection line, with fusible links replaced on schedule.
• The manual pull station and the fuel shut-off, followed by a new tag and a written report.

What we see most in Coachella

Busy restaurant lines run hot and long, and grease builds on nozzles and links faster than in a kitchen that cooks a few hours a day. We find caps missing, links coated, and a griddle or plancha added beside the original equipment without anyone checking coverage. Kitchens in gas stations and markets often have a small hood that gets forgotten until the inspector asks.

If appliances have moved, we re-aim or add nozzles. Older systems that do not meet UL 300 we replace.
