Hood system inspections in Yucca Valley
San Bernardino County Fire is the fire authority for Yucca Valley. NFPA 96 and the system manufacturer call for a semi-annual inspection of every commercial cooking suppression system. Every inspection covers:
- The agent cylinder and cartridge, and system pressure.
- Nozzle aim and caps, and the piping above each appliance.
- Fusible links and the detection line, with links changed on schedule.
- The manual pull station and the fuel or power shut-off.
- Tagging, and a written report for your records.
What we see most in Yucca Valley
In Yucca Valley restaurant kitchens the menu often grows with the business. A new smoker, wok or extra fryer under the same hood changes what the system has to cover, and the nozzles have to follow it. Blowing dust up here also settles on nozzle caps and in the hood, which is one more reason caps get checked every time. Church and school kitchens are used in bursts, for meals, events and the school year, so the system can go months without anyone looking at it.
Rework and new systems
We re-aim and add nozzles when the cook line changes, design and install systems for new restaurants, and replace older systems that do not meet UL 300.

Common questions
We added a new appliance under the hood. Do we need to call before the next inspection?
Yes. Nozzles are aimed at specific appliances, so a new one may not be covered until the system is re-worked.
Can our church kitchen and our extinguishers be done on the same visit?
Yes. We service the hood system and the Class K extinguisher together, along with the rest of your extinguishers.
Call and a technician will come out to service your property.
